SHEIKH MOHAMMED INAUGURATES THE DUBAI WATER CANAL

 

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has inaugurated the second phase of the Dubai Water Canal, a 12 kilometre waterway that connects Dubai Creek with the Arabian Gulf.The Dubai Water Canal project has been built at a cost of Dh3.7 billion.

Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and a number of senior officials, senior business leaders and other dignitaries attended the launch ceremony held in a peninsula near the Jumeirah Beach Park.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said that in order to ensure the sustained development of the UAE’s economic capabilities we need to foster innovation, explore new ideas and think outside the box.


SHAH RUKH KHAN IN DUBAI FOR TOURISM SHOOT

 

He’s back. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan returned Dubai to begin filming a series of videos for Dubai Tourism.Shah Rukh Khan, who is no stranger to the city, announced the collaboration, on his 51st birthday on November 2.
The short films will be aired through various channels in the month of December and will kick off a year-long campaign of multiple projects with Bollywood, said Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.

GUGGENHEIM ABU DHABI COLLECTION TO BE EXHIBITED NEXT MARCH

 

The second exhibition of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi collection will be held at Manarat Al Saadiyat in the capital’s Saadiyat Island from March 8, 2017, the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) announced today.
Titled the Creative Act: Performance Process Presence, it will bring together more than 18 artists of different nationalities and generations and will feature 25 works in a variety of media installation, painting, photography, sculpture, video, and works on paper.
The exhibition will focus on the related themes of performance, process, and presence, which frame the exhibition’s curatorial narrative.


RAS AL KHAIMAH TO LAUNCH ADVENTURE TOURS

 

Ras Al Khaimah will launch a range of adventure tours with the region’s first commercial Via Ferrata (Iron Path).
Tourists can tackle climbing, hiking and three zip-line challenges on the UAE’s highest mountain range, with the world’s longest zip-line and adventure park to follow in the fourth quarter of 2017.
The three-course Via Ferrata spans the rocky facade of Jebel Jais, the country’s highest peak, which rises to 6,266 feet and is part of the rugged Al Hajar mountain range. The average temperature in that area is 10 degrees Celsius below mean Gulf temperatures.

Services via Dubai Ferry and Water Taxi will begin a day after Dubai Water Canal opening.
The dream of travelling around Dubai on a boat will be a reality with the opening of Dubai Canal in the next few days.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Saturday announced the opening of nine marine stations, four at Business Bay and five along the Dubai Canal. With the Dubai Creek, Business Bay and Dubai Canal flowing into each other, putting the together areas of Bur Dubai, Deira, Oud Metha, Zabeel, Karama, Satwa and parts of Jumeirah and Al Safa to form island, opting for marine transport would be ideal to beat the traffic.
Ferries and water taxis as well as luxury yachts will be able to cruise from Deira, Bur Dubai and Dubai Marina all the way to Jumeirah and Bussiness Bay.


DEWA’S NEW HEADQUARTERS IS SET TO BE WORLD’S LARGEST AND SMARTEST GOVERNMENT BUILDING

 

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has started construction of a new headquarters.The new building, named Al-Sheraa (Arabic for sail), will be the tallest, largest, and smartest net Zero Energy Building (ZEB) in the world.The Al-Sheraa building will have over a million square feet, over 200,000 square feet of land. It is being built in the heart of the Cultural Village in Al Jadaf.
This latest achievement conforms Dubai’s global position as a role model for leading organisations in sustainability, innovation, and shaping the future.The total built-up area of Al-Sheraa will be over 1.5 million square feet.
