His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, gifted the land for the temple’s construction to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and an additional 55,000 sq. m. plot of land located near the area for parking.
Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, launched the project during his visit to the UAE in 2018 and it became the first Hindu place of worship across Abu Dhabi to receive an official license.

The BAPS Hindu Mandir Temple is expected to consist of an exquisite marble-and-sandstone shrine and a surrounding community centre complex. The BAPS Abu Dhabi Temple is strategically located in the Abu Mureikha area, along Al Taf Road (E16) and accessible from the Abu Dhabi – Ghuweifat Highway (E11). You can travel here by car which will take approximately 30 minutes from the Main Island and around 40 minutes from Jebel Ali.

The grand inauguration of the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in Abu Dhabi will mark a historic moment, bringing together people from various walks of life to celebrate the union of spirituality and culture.
A series of inaugural events, called the ‘Festival of Harmony’ will kick start from February 10th 2024. The temple management has announced a grand opening ceremony which will take place and will last for two hours.
